DEATHS FROM INFLUENZA

Medical Officers Report… but towards the end of October there developed a severe outbreak of influenza and nearly all the ship’s company was affected. About 135 cases were sent to the shore hospital and to workshops which were fitted up as temporary hospital…Unfortunately 5 boys died, but the Committee feel that regard being had to the extent of the virulence of the epidemic the small mortality rate is a matter of sincere congratulation.
